What is Community Music Therapy?
Community Music Therapy utilizes music as a tool to support empowerment, community development, and positive social change.
The act of creating or sharing music not only provides an opportunity for individuals to process or express challenging emotions, but also to take ownership over their own stories and experiences. Our CMT programs aim to support individual exploration and development within the context of a community. We provide space for individuals to come together to engage in songwriting, instrument play and other community music making opportunities.
Community Music Therapy is as broad and diverse as the beautiful communities we serve. Through our Courage To Create program we work specifically with women and girls using music to foster positive self-esteem and wellness. Our educational Community Music Therapy program with Monarch School provides students a space for growth and empowerment. Our programs through Include Autism give individuals on the autism spectrum the invaluable opportunity of socializing through music.
